Matthew Lillard Ready for a DCU Debut Whenever James Gunn Is

According to a video shared by Screen Rant from Matthew Lillard’s appearance at the latest L.A. Comic Con, the actor made it clear he is eager for a chance to suit up in the DC Universe. Speaking to a packed crowd, he said he has been waiting with his phone close by for an offer to join James Gunn’s lineup of superheroes and villains.

“I keep waiting for that invitation, I don’t know if it’s lost in the mail.” Lillard told fans, adding that if anyone meets Gunn they should pass along the message. “If you run into James Gunn, tell him I’m available.” The audience erupted in laughter, but the sentiment was unmistakable as he emphasized how much he wants in.

Lillard reminded everyone that Gunn wrote “Scooby-Doo” and “Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,” the live action hits that first connected the two. For now the invitation has not arrived, but Lillard’s playful plea has already sparked speculation about which character he could bring to life if James Gunn decides to pick up the phone.
