Louis Gossett Jr. passed away on Friday morning at the age of 87. His family was the one who shared the sad news through The Hollywood Reporter. Although they did not confirm his cause of death, the actor had prostate cancer since 2020.

The star’s first cousin, Neal L. Gossett, confessed to the Associated Press that the actor died in Santa Monica, surrounded by his loved ones. Multiple actors and colleagues were quick to offer their condolences.

Fans shared their condolences on social media after his inner circle said, “We are heartbroken to confirm that our beloved father passed away this morning. We would like to thank everyone for their condolences at this time. Please respect the family’s privacy during this difficult time”.
