James Van Der Beek’s Wife Kimberly Opens Up About Grieving Her Husband: “The Reality Is Settling In”

The grief surrounding the death of James Van Der Beek continues to unfold publicly through the words of his wife, Kimberly Brook, who reflected on the emotional weight of the past three months in a heartfelt Instagram post.

The message, shared a few hours ago, arrives after the actor’s February death at age 48 following a battle with colorectal cancer.

Kimberly Brook Shares Emotional Message About Life After James Van Der Beek’s Death

Brook opened her message by acknowledging the difficult milestone. “Yesterday was three months,” she wrote, before admitting, “To say I’m heartbroken is a severe understatement.” She continued, “Words just don’t capture what grief is.”

The business consultant described how the experience of loss has changed over time. “The comforts of shock have worn off. The reality is settling in… and I miss him. We all miss him,” she shared. Later in the post, she added, “Yet, there is a different kind of magic in the air. I feel him. I know him more deeply.”

Brook also reflected on spirituality and the sense of connection she still carries with her late husband. “My conscious connection to God has deepened,” she wrote. “The veils of the universe have thinned. And I trust that this is the path me and my family have always been intended to walk.”

She also addressed the public support that followed Van Der Beek’s death, thanking fans for standing beside the family during the past several months. “The outpouring of support has been tremendous,” Brook wrote. “It’s held our family in the most beautiful of ways.” She later added, “You all went absolutely above and beyond anything I could have ever expected in supporting us and honoring James.”

Van Der Beek and Brook married in 2010 and shared six children together. The actor became a television star through “Dawson’s Creek” before later earning praise for projects including “Varsity Blues,” “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23,” “CSI: Cyber,” and “Pose.” Before his death, he had publicly discussed his cancer diagnosis and the financial strain caused by treatment.

Brook concluded her latest message by teasing that she intends to speak more in the future, writing, “There is so much more to share here. And in time, I will.”
