Jack Lowden, the 36-year-old Scottish actor, has emerged as a reported frontrunner after British presenter and author Richard Osman revealed that he had heard Lowden’s name in connection with the coveted role. According to EuroNews, Osman shared the information on his The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, while making clear that no casting decision has been finalized.

Osman presented the claim with a notable degree of caution, acknowledging that he has heard supposed Bond casting information before. Still, he singled out Lowden when discussing the actor he had recently been told was in contention. “Someone told me for definite who the new Bond is the other day, but I mean that’s happened before,” Osman said. “The name I’ve heard is Jack Lowden.”

Again, Osman did not describe Lowden as the confirmed successor to Daniel Craig. “It is definitively not a ‘he’s definitely got it’ thing,” he said, before adding that Lowden is “definitely being strongly considered.”
The possibility puts Lowden into an increasingly crowded conversation around Bond’s future. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Harris Dickinson have also been among the names associated with the role, while producers have indicated that the search is focused on finding the right actor for a new era of 007 rather than simply selecting the biggest established star.
The next film, tentatively known as “Bond 26,” is already taking shape behind the scenes. Denis Villeneuve is set to direct from a screenplay by Steven Knight, with the project representing the first major Bond film following Amazon MGM Studios taking broader control of the franchise.
For now, the official announcement remains ahead. Producer Amy Pascal has indicated that the new Bond is expected to be revealed by the end of 2026, with the film targeting a 2028 theatrical release. Osman also offered his own verdict on the possibility of Lowden taking over the tuxedo, calling him “an incredible Bond” and saying, “He’s got real Daniel Craig energy.”
The actor has built a strong screen résumé that makes the Bond speculation particularly notable. He is best known internationally for playing River Cartwright in Apple TV+’s “Slow Horses,” a role that earned him a Primetime Emmy nomination, while his film credits include Christopher Nolan’s “Dunkirk,” “Mary Queen of Scots,” “Calibre” and “Benediction.” He is also set to star as Mr. Darcy in Netflix’s upcoming “Pride and Prejudice” adaptation and as Bernie Gunther in Apple’s “Berlin Noir.”
