Drew Barrymore brought an unexpected level of vulnerability to daytime television this week, opening up about her own body insecurities during a makeover segment on The Drew Barrymore Show.

As reported by Page Six, the emotional exchange unfolded as the host connected with guests who had undergone significant physical transformations, prompting her to reflect on her own experience after motherhood.

A Personal Moment Unfolds on Air

The conversation took shape as Barrymore spoke with women adjusting to changes brought on by weight loss and pregnancy, a setting that led her to share her own perspective. Becoming visibly emotional, she admitted, “I so related. I really did,” before recounting a recent moment that left her feeling self-conscious in public.

She went on to reference the lasting physical impact of childbirth, explaining, “I’ve had two C-sections and I’m so wrecked down there that I permanently just … I can’t wear a lot of different types of pants.” The actress is a mother of two daughters, Olive and Frankie, whom she welcomed in 2012 and 2014 with her former husband Will Kopelman.

The host also described a recent outing that heightened her discomfort with her appearance. “I had this shorter shirt on, and I couldn’t keep my jacket closed. And I’m walking around and I was [thinking], I don’t want anyone to see this,” she shared.

The exchange was sparked by a guest who had recently lost a significant amount of weight and expressed hesitation about embracing a new wardrobe. Barrymore responded directly to her, saying, “I totally get it. And I’ve gotta tell you, I’m looking at you and all I see is just your beautiful hard work … and you look so stunning.”

Closing out the segment, Barrymore reflected more broadly on the passage of time and its physical effects, noting, “Your body changes and you get older and things just aren’t the same.”
