Disney is officially heading back to the tower, as The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively revealed that the studio has chosen Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim to star in its highly anticipated live-action reimagining of “Tangled.” After years of fan-casting and speculation, the project is finally gaining momentum by tapping into a blend of superhero grit and musical theater charm.
Meet the New Rapunzel and Flynn Rider
Teagan Croft, best known for her breakout role as Raven in the DC series “Titans,” steps into the lead role of Rapunzel. While her previous work often leaned into darker, more brooding territory, Croft has demonstrated a significant emotional range that suits the sheltered yet adventurous spirit of the lost princess. At 21, she fits the age profile for a coming-of-age story perfectly, and her casting marks a major transition from gritty streaming dramas to the quintessential Disney princess spotlight.

Joining her as the charismatic thief Eugene Fitzherbert, better known as Flynn Rider, is Milo Manheim. Manheim is already a staple within the Disney ecosystem, having headlined the massive “Zombies” franchise. His background in musical theater and dance makes him an ideal candidate for a role that requires equal parts physical comedy and romantic sincerity. Fans of the original 2010 film will likely appreciate his proven ability to handle choreographed sequences and high-energy musical numbers.

The chemistry between Croft and Manheim will be the focal point of the production, which seeks to translate the vibrant, CG-animated world of Corona into a grounded, cinematic setting. While “Tangled” is beloved for its humor and visual scale, the heart of the story remains the dynamic between its two leads. With Manheim’s seasoned Disney experience and Croft’s fresh energy, the studio appears to be prioritizing a new generation feel for this remake rather than relying on established A-list veterans.
Production details remain tightly under wraps, but the casting of Croft and Manheim suggests that the picture may be entering active development sooner than expected. As Disney continues its trend of translating Renaissance and post-Renaissance hits into live-action spectacles, all eyes will be on how this duo handles the pressure of “The Smolder” and those iconic glowing lanterns.
