While Hollywood welcomes more exceptional actresses each year, few have achieved what Emma Stone has. With over 50 credits to her name, she has firmly established herself as one of the most sought-after performers of her generation, and her future looks even brighter!
In the past six years, Stone has formed a significant partnership with Yorgos Lanthimos, beginning with their critically acclaimed collaboration, “The Favourite,” in 2018. They followed up with “Poor Things,” the most talked-about film of 2023, and recently released “Kinds of Kindness” to very positive reviews.
But that’s not all. They are also gearing up for “Bugonia,” Lanthimos’s next project. For this picture, rumors suggest that Stone has made one of the most transformative decisions of her career.
Did Emma Stone really shave her head?
September 6 initially seemed poised to be a quiet day in the entertainment industry until rumors began swirling on social media that Emma Stone had shaved her head for “Bugonia”! At first, many were skeptical, but the user @JillianChili shared a photo of Stone wearing a hoodie, clearly showing her lack of hair.

This same user later posted a video of Stone at the ongoing New York Film Festival, where she was seen sporting a wig that was notably different from her usual hair color. In the video, she jokingly commented with friends about wearing fake hair, confirming that she has indeed gone bald!
While it remains unclear if this bold decision was specifically for “Bugonia,” speculation arises due to the director’s tendency to request significant physical transformations from his actors. Stone has other upcoming projects, including Mark Hammer’s “Disadventure, Ari Aster’s “Eddington,” and “Cruella 2,” so it won’t be long before we learn the true reason behind her new look!
“Bugonia” is a science fiction comedy remake of the 2003 South Korean film “Save the Green Planet!” by Jang Joon-hwan. The plot follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap a high-powered CEO, convinced she is an alien intent on destroying Earth. So far, Jesse Plemons is the second confirmed cast member besides Stone, with the movie scheduled for release on November 7, 2025.
