Delroy Lindo is not shy about where he hopes to head next. In a recent conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, the acclaimed actor revealed that he has already spoken to director Ryan Coogler about the possibility of joining the next chapter of Marvel’s Wakandan saga. With “Black Panther 3” currently in development, Lindo confirmed that he has let Coogler know he would gladly step into the franchise if the right opportunity comes along.
A Reunion After ‘Sinners’ Success
Lindo and Coogler most recently collaborated on Sinners, the 2025 horror drama set in the Mississippi Delta that became both a critical and commercial triumph. The film starred Michael B. Jordan in dual roles as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, with Lindo portraying Delta Slim, a seasoned harmonica player whose presence anchored the film’s blues soaked supernatural tale. The project marked another successful partnership for Coogler and his frequent collaborators.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Lindo shared that he has already expressed his interest in reuniting with the filmmaker. “I expressed to Ryan that if the stars line up, I would love to be in Black Panther 3,” he said. It was not a formal pitch, but more a candid conversation between longtime collaborators who clearly respect each other’s craft.
According to Lindo, Coogler’s response was measured and considerate. The director indicated that if he were to offer Lindo a role, it would need to be something meaningful and worthy of the actor’s time. “He didn’t say exactly that, but that’s essentially the sentiment,” Lindo explained, adding that he respects that approach.
The timing could be significant. Lindo’s performance in “Sinners” has earned him major awards attention, including an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. With momentum on his side and a strong creative bond already established, a move into the world of Wakanda would feel less like a surprise and more like a natural next step.
