Carrie Underwood has been officially announced as the new judge for American Idol upcoming season 23, in which she will replace Katy Perry. She joins Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie in the judging panel.
In the video announcement published on their Instagram page, American Idol made a recap of the country singer’s history with the show. “This season, Carrie comes home,” said the announcement. “I went from nobody knowing my name to ten of millions of people watching the show,” said Underwood in the video. “I’m proud of everything that I was able to accomplish on the show and so proud of everything I’ve accomplished since,” she added.
