The countdown to the Oscars has already begun, and there are only two weeks left until the iconic ceremony takes place, which not only grants another status to the nominees but also leaves a plethora of memorable moments.
The event will take place on Sunday, March 10th, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, starting from 6:30 PM EDT / 3:30 PM PDT until 7:00 PM EDT / 4:00 PM PDT. This year, it can be watched live and streamed through ABC’s websites.
This week, the celebrities who will present the categories were announced, giving some hints about who will be taking the stage, such as Ryan Gosling, who will perform I’m Just Ken from the Barbie movie.
Ryan Gosling to sing I’m Just Ken at 2024 Oscars
Yes, Ryan Gosling will be one of the artists taking the stage at the Dolby Theatre, as he has been chosen to sing the Barbie classic, I’m Just Ken. The song has been receiving quite a bit of recognition, but this was one that not many were expecting.
Those in charge of organizing the awards ceremony and everything related to it have been closely watching the industry’s movements, so the success of the actor’s performance in the film directed by Greta Gerwig has not gone unnoticed.
Earlier in the month, Gosling gave an interview about his possible participation in the Academy Awards, and he wasn’t very sure if this would become a reality, but apparently, they haven’t had enough of the catchy melody produced by Mark Ronson.
Ryan spoke with Variety, and when the topic of the performance came up, he confessed, “It might be too much of a risk to have me do it. I don’t know how that would work. But I’m open to it“.
The Daily Mail was the first media outlet to confirm the news, followed by Variety and other major sources. However, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially declined to comment, according to 23ABC Bakersfield.
The act of performing a song during the ceremony is a tradition that is part of the Best Original Song category, where the nominated melody belongs to Barbie: The Album. However, the Canadian actor and musician will not receive direct payment for his participation.
This is the case for all artists who are invited to perform, as generally, the opportunity to perform at the Oscars is considered an honor and valuable exposure for stars in the music industry.
Who are the artists who will be performing?
According to the Oscar-specialized website, The Gold Knight, the performers during the ceremony will be Scott George and the Osage Singers, Becky G, Jon Batiste, Ryan Gosling and Billie Eilish alongside Finneas O’Connell.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that an artist has also been selected to perform the In Memoriam segment, a task that was handled by Grammy winner and industry icon Lenny Kravitz last year.
Here, check out which songs each of them will perform and to which nominated movies they belong:
- Ryan Gosling – I’m Just Ken from Barbie

- Jon Batiste – It Never Went Away from American Symphony
- Becky G – The Fire Inside from Flamin’ Hot
