The official account of the games on X (formerly Twitter) has been posting moment by moment where the mysterious figure has been seen, with one of the latest appearances at the Louvre Museum. Here, check out what is known…
Who is the person who carries the Olympic Flame?
Well, the mysterious figure who appeared at the 2024 Olympic Games has finally been unmasked, but not everything is as it seems… It wasn’t just one athlete behind the mask, but several who wore the costume.
Although there were theories that it might have been tennis player Rafael Nadal, these speculations couldn’t have been further from the truth. Two of the French figures who portrayed this character are Clément Daumais and Simon Nogueira.
Both are prominent athletes in freerunning and parkour, affiliated with La Fabrique Royale, a French organization that promotes these disciplines. Their skills have allowed them to stand out in competitions and related events.
Of course, memes and a lot of funny reactions quickly surfaced, as many viewers compared the style of the presentation to one of the most iconic games: the Assassin’s Creed series.
Tony Estanguet, one of the many organizers of the Olympics, referred to this character on Friday morning and assured that only he knows “the personality or the athlete” under the mask.
He also added that up until just before the day of the Olympic opening ceremony, he hadn’t yet told the people involved. “I plan to tell the last torchbearer today. He or she doesn’t know“, he added, according to Alive.
