According to Variety, Amazon Prime Video has decided not to move forward with a third season of “Gen V,” bringing the “The Boys” spinoff to a close after two installments.
The decision comes as the platform signals a broader plan to fold the show’s characters into future entries within the franchise.
A Short Run With a Longer Future Inside the Franchise
In a statement addressing the cancellation, Eric Kripke and Goldberg acknowledged the end of the series while emphasizing that its characters will not disappear from the screen, noting, “While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the ‘Gen V’ characters’ stories in ‘The Boys’ Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again.”
“Gen V” launched in September 2023 as the first live-action extension of “The Boys,” shifting the focus to Godolkin University, a training ground for young superheroes navigating ambition, power, and corporate control.
Developed by Craig Rosenberg alongside Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg, the series positioned itself as both a companion piece and a tonal variation, blending campus drama with the franchise’s established satirical edge.
The show built a following across its two seasons, anchored by a cast that included Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, and Asa Germann. Its second season, released in September 2025, continued to expand the narrative stakes by tying its storyline more directly to the events unfolding in “The Boys,” particularly as tensions between humans and supes escalated.
