While “Fool Me Once” is still the reigning series on Netflix US and worldwide, there’s a new show that has entered the Top 10 in less than four days: “Detective Forst,” a Polish crime thriller that is climbing the charts.
According to the specialized website FlixPatrol, which offers viewership data for streaming services, this crime thriller is currently the third most-watched series worldwide, just behind “Fool Me Once” and “Money Heist: Berlin,” surpassing “The Brothers Sun.”
Meanwhile, in the US, the series is the fifth most watched for Sunday, Jan. 14th. It’s behind the already mentioned series, as well as Dave Chappelle’s special “The Dreamer.” Here’s all you need to know about this show.
Detective Forst, the Polish crime thriller to watch on Netflix
“Detective Forst,” or simply “Forst” in other countries, was directed by Daniel Jaroszek, known for “Johnny” (2022). The six-part series is adapted from two books by popular Polish crime novelist Remigiusz Mróz.
The series follows a gruff detective with unusual methods who investigates the bizarre murder of an unpopular professor in the cold sweep of Poland’s Tatra Mountains. The show stars multi-talented actor and musician Borys Szyc, who is known for titles such as “Cold War” (2018).
The rest of the cast includes Zuzanna Saporznikow, Andrzej Bienias, Kamilla Baar, Aleksandra Grabowska, Szymon Wróblewski, Maciej Pesta, Michał Suwada, Tomasz Pogoń, Artur Barciś, and Małgorzata Hajewska-Krzysztofik.
The show is a perfect watch for those who love a good mystery, as well as a dark protagonist with past trauma. If you enjoy “True Detective,” especially the current Season 4, this series is Netflix’s closest option.
