According to FlixPatrol, the series is currently (August 22) in the eighth spot of the Top 10 in the US. It joins another AMC fantasy drama that is also trending, “A Discovery of Witches,” which is currently sitting at the Top 5 (dropping from the fourth spot).
The series, which is based on Anne Rice’s novels, stars Alexandra Daddario as Rowan Fielding, Harry Hamlin as Cortland Mayfair, Tongayi Chirisa as Ciprien Grieve, and Jack Huston as Lasher.
‘Mayfair Witches,’ one of the trending titles on Netflix
The supernatural drama was created by Esta Spalding and Michelle Ashford, based on the novel trilogy Lives of the Mayfair Witches by Rice. However, it’s not the only series inspired by the work of the author, as it is part of the Immortal Universe, which started with “Interview with the Vampire.“
The story follows neurosurgeon Dr. Rowan Fielding as she learns she is the heiress to a dynasty of powerful witches haunted by a sinister spirit. Beth Grant, Erica Gimpel, Annabeth Gish, Geraldine Singer, Hannah Alline, Ravi Naidu, Jen Ricjhards, Keyara Milliner, Charlayne Woodard and Suleka Mathew complete the cast.
While new viewers have the opportunity to watch the show for the first time, fans of the series will certainly be hoping for a second season. The second installment will adapt the second novel, which is called “Lasher.”
It’s expected that the season will arrive next year, after production suffered some delay due to the strikes. The series is interconnected with “Interview With the Vampire,” as well as with an upcoming series titled “The Talamasca.”
