After appearing in hits and acclaimed movies such as “Oppenheimer,” “Little Women” and “Midsommar,” Florence Pugh has become one of the most in-demand young actors. And her most-recent project might be her biggest to date, as she plays Princess Irulan in Denis Villenueve’ “Dune: Part Two.”
While she shares the screen with another great talent such as Timothée Chalamet (with whom she already worked in “Little Women”), Zendaya and Austin Butler in the $190 million sci-fi epic, Pugh is no stranger to modest films.
One of them is “A Good Person,” an indie drama directed and written by Zach Braff, in which she acts alongside Morgan Freeman, Celeste O’Connor, Zoe Lister-Jones, and Molly Shannon. And you can watch it for free in the US on Fubo, which offers a seven-day free trial.
‘A Good Person’ is a personal story between Braff and Pugh
The film follows Pugh as Allison, a young musician who is about to start her life with her fiancé, Nathan (Chinaza Uche). However, her life changes when, after losing sight of the road, Allison crashes into an oncoming construction, killing her sister-in-law and her husband.
Being unable to move on, Allisson struggles with an opiate addiction and hits rock bottom. However, when she enters an AA meeting, she meets Nathan’s estranged father, Daniel (Freeman). United by grief, the two of them will start an unlikely friendship.
Braff wrote the script with Pugh in mind while the two were dating (the pair were linked from 2019 to 2022). However, he took inspiration from his own losses. His father and sister both died in 2018; two years later, he lost his close friend, actor Nick Cordero, to COVID-19.
Speaking to W Magazine, the actress said that as she was part of the process from the beginning, when it came to the acting, “the whole thing was so much easier.”
Apart from starring in the film, Pugh not only produced the movie, but also wrote and performed songs for the character. While the film received mixed reviews, critics agree that she is, as usual, great in the role.
