From ‘Kally’s Mashup’ to ‘The Last Sunrise’: Who is Maia Reficco?

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on July 14, 2000, Reficco spent most of her childhood in Buenos Aires after moving to Argentina with her family when she was four. Music was an important part of her upbringing. She learned to play several instruments, including guitar, piano, saxophone and ukulele, and trained in singing from an early age. She also practiced acrobatics for 11 years.

Her professional breakthrough came with “Kally’s Mashup,” the Nickelodeon Latin America series in which she played Kally Ponce. Reficco landed the role after her vocal covers on Instagram caught the attention of the production team. For her audition, she performed Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman,” eventually becoming the face of the series and recording music for its soundtrack.

Music remained an important part of her career as she moved beyond the Nickelodeon project. Reficco performed at events including the Kids’ Choice Awards Argentina and Mexico, while also developing material as a solo artist. Her early musical work was expected to explore pop and R&B, reflecting the vocal training she had pursued both in Argentina and the United States.

Reficco later expanded her screen career with roles aimed at an older audience. In 2022, she appeared in Netflix’s “Do Revenge” and joined the cast of HBO Max’s “Pretty Little Liars,” where she played Noa Olivar. The role placed her within one of television’s most recognizable teen franchises and marked another step away from the musical series that first introduced her to audiences.

Her work has also extended to the stage. In 2024, Reficco made her Broadway debut in “Hadestown,” taking on the role of Eurydice opposite Jordan Fisher. Now, with “The Last Sunrise” available on Amazon Prime Video, she is stepping into another leading role.
