Speaking with Gold Derby, Sepideh Moafi revealed that many story details are still being kept under wraps, even from the cast. Still, the actress offered a handful of updates about the new season’s timeline and her character’s return.

Moafi was candid about how much information she has received ahead of filming. “I don’t know anything yet,” she said, explaining that production is scheduled to begin in about a week. While plot specifics remain a mystery, she did confirm one notable detail about her involvement. “I know that I’m not going to be part of the first episode. I think I can share that.”
The actress also shed light on how Season 3 will be structured. According to Moafi, viewers should expect characters to arrive at different points in the story rather than all appearing from the outset. “It’s going to be like staggered entrances,” she said.
Unlike the story details, however, the show’s timeline appears to be something she has already been told. “I think it’s around Thanksgiving, four months from Season 2,” Moafi revealed. She also hinted that the series will maintain its trademark intensity, adding, “I know that we’re stepping into another wild day.”
That setting could be particularly significant for Dr. Al-Hashimi. The attending physician made a major impact during Season 2 after arriving at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center as Dr. Robby’s temporary replacement. Her push for modernization, confidence in emerging technology, and willingness to challenge long-standing practices frequently placed her at the center of the drama.
By the season’s end, however, her professional future had been thrown into question after the return of her seizure disorder led to a confrontation over patient safety and her ability to continue working.
For now, Moafi is waiting for answers alongside the audience. “I’m as excited and enthusiastic as everyone else is to find out what’s going to happen next,” she said. With filming about to begin and Season 3 already positioned several months beyond the events of last season, fans may not have to wait much longer to learn where Dr. Al-Hashimi’s journey goes from here.
