The actress also mapped out what comes after her return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Then I’m going to do a series with FX and A24 called The Marriage Plot, so that’ll be next year,” she added, offering a rare look at how her upcoming schedule is shaping up.
Although Marvel Studios has confirmed that the reboot is in development, the studio has remained quiet about when cameras would officially begin rolling. Sink’s comments provide the clearest indication yet that production is expected to get underway next year as work on the franchise’s next chapter moves forward.
Sink made her debut as Jean Grey in “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” where the young mutant crossed paths with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker before setting up her return in Marvel’s upcoming “X-Men” film. The Spider-Man sequel introduced a new interpretation of the character ahead of the team’s standalone reboot, which will continue Jean’s story in the MCU.
Marvel’s untitled “X-Men” picture will be directed by Jake Schreier from a screenplay by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. The reboot will focus on younger versions of the mutant heroes, with Sink reprising Jean Grey alongside Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Kit Connor as Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops.
