Speaking to Variety, the actress voiced strong support for Hardy while addressing reports of behind-the-scenes tensions surrounding “MobLand,” where the two actors play key figures in the powerful Harrigan crime family.
A Strong Endorsement Amid Questions About Hardy’s Future
As discussion continues over whether Hardy will return for a potential third season, Mirren left little doubt about where she stands. When asked if she would work with him again, the Oscar winner delivered a blunt and enthusiastic response: “Absolutely. In a ****ing heartbeat.”
The comments arrive after months of reports surrounding alleged friction during production. Early claims suggested Hardy had been removed from the series following disagreements on set. Subsequent reporting, however, indicated that no firing had taken place and that conversations regarding his future involvement remain ongoing.
Rather than dwelling on the controversy, Mirren used the opportunity to praise her co-star’s talent. “I love Tom, I think he’s the most amazing actor,” she said. The actress also noted that performers often approach their craft in different ways, adding, “Different actors have different processes.”
Mirren emphasized that the end result matters more than the route taken to get there. “As long as what’s on the screen is fantastic, I’m totally chilled with however someone gets there,” she said, before describing Hardy as “a very special person.”
She closed her remarks with an unmistakable show of support, calling Hardy “absolutely remarkable” and stressing, “My support of him is genuine and heartfelt.”
