Since July 2023, Ariana Grande’s life has dominated headlines in tabloids around the world. Just as her divorce from Dalton Gomez was unfolding, TMZ was the first to report her romance with Ethan Slater, who had also recently separated from the mother of his child, Lilly Jay.
While many media outlets emphasized that Grande and Slater began their relationship only after ending things with their previous partners, both faced significant backlash, particularly Ariana, who was repeatedly labeled as the one who tore Slater’s family apart. Reports that Jay was devastated by the situation only fueled the criticism.

We were away for two years. That was definitely a tough ride.”
She expressed frustration with how the media portrayed Slater, stating that it was the opposite of who he truly is—a genuinely caring person. Addressing the “homewrecker” rumors, she reflected, “I’m 31 years old, and I’m not a perfect person, but I am definitely deeply good, and I’m proud of who I’m becoming. I will never let disreputable tabloids ruin my life or my perception of what is real and good.”
