Since last week, fans and followers of celebrities have been receiving multiple news updates as the awards season kicks off in a grand way. The Golden Globes brought some interesting moments, both epic and bizarre. As the days go by, new ceremonies are approaching, and soon it will be the turn of the PCA.

After comedian Jo Koy took charge of the Golden Globes event, he became the center of strong criticism, especially for making some uncomfortable jokes. Because of this, many have started to wonder who the hosts will be for the upcoming award shows.

This morning, the official E! People’s Choice Awards Twitter account confirmed that the 2024 edition will be hosted by one of the current leading actors, who played a significant role in Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” and even managed to have their own starring film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Who will be the host of the 2024 PCA?

After much mystery, the hosts for the most significant award ceremonies are being revealed bit by bit. It has been confirmed that Chelsea Handler will be in charge of the Critics Choice, while Jimmy Kimmel will return to host the Oscars. Now, this year’s PCA already has someone to energize the event and it is Simu Liu.

That’s right, the 34-year-old actor originally from China will be in charge of hosting this edition. The year 2023 has been a great one for him, especially after landing the role of Ken in the popular Barbie movie, which has received 9 nominations. The star shared multiple scenes with Ryan Gosling, who plays the main Ken, and with Margot Robbie.

Has Simu Liu secured a nomination for the PCA 2024?

Despite being selected as the host for this year’s People’s Choice Awards, the actor has also managed to secure a nomination. Liu is in the running for the Movie Performance of the Year category, where he will compete against his Barbie co-stars, including America Ferrera.

The film directed by Greta Gerwig also received some nominations on its own, totaling nine in all, making it one of the most recognized at the PCA 2024. If you want to see how many awards the project wins in total or if the host takes home the accolade, you can watch the ceremony at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, live on February 18 on NBC, E! or Peacock.
