The latest installment of Ryan Murphy’s “Feud” anthology series, “Capote vs. The Swans,” will premiere with two episodes on FX on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 10 p.m. ET. Then, there will be a streaming release on Hulu the following day.

The limited series is based on “Capote’s Women: A True Story of Love, Betrayal, and a Swan Song for an Era” by Laurence Leamer. It was adapted by Jon Robin Baitz. Across eight episodes, viewers will follow the relationship between writer Truman Capote and the New York socialité women he surrounded himself with and nicknamed “the swans.”

According to the FX press, Capote will befriend these women, becoming their “confidante” and then he will betray him by using their secrets to write his novel “Answered Prayers.” As a result, the women vow to ruin his life.

Tom Hollander plays Truman Capote in ‘Feud’

Tom Hollander, known for many movies and series such as the “Pirates of the Caribbean” saga and “The Night Manager,” stars as Truman Capote. Talking to Vanity Fair, the actor said that he hopes viewers can empathize with the writer, despite his flaws.

He may have been a very, very difficult person. I don’t think he was ever really loved when he was young, and so he didn’t trust anyone,” he told the outlet. He also remembered that the writer was an addict and alcoholic and, thus, “he was not in control […] I think we should be compassionate toward him. No one is wholly bad or wholly good.”

On the other hand, the “swans” are played by Naomi Watts, who also serves as an executive producer, Diane Lane, Chloë Sevigny, and Calista Flockhart. Other cast members include A-list names such as Demi Moore, Molly Ringwald, Treat Williams, Joe Mantello and Russell Tovey.

Watts takes the role of Barbara “Babe” Paley, who was the writer’s closest friend and one of the trendsetters of the time. The Oscar-nominated actress said that her character “had such grace and elegance […] but underneath it all, she had cracks. There was a lot of pressure to look that pristine all the time.” Meanwhile, writer Baitz told Entertainment Weekly that both Capote and Babe are “broken people. They’re both in similar kinds of pain.”
