Denis Villeneuve’s<a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/dune"> “Dune: Part Two,”</a> starring <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/timothee-chalamet">Timothée Chalamet</a> and <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/zendaya">Zendaya</a>, has grossed $178 million in its opening weekend, beating the industry’s projections. Thanks to those numbers, the sci-fi epic is poised to become one of the <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies">biggest movies</a> of the year and fans want to know every single detail regarding the production, including filming locations.



One of the best aspects of the film, which received universal acclaim from both critics and audiences, are the impressive locations. While the film is set in a distant future, production took place in real locations, especially in the desert of Abu Dhabi and Jordan (Wadi Rum desert).

Villeneuve explained to UPI that “Scenes in the desert were sometimes shot in different locations. Sometimes it’s 12 or 14 different locations.” And, there were several challenges that came with shooting in the desert.

<h2>All Dune: Part Two filming locations: Abu Dhabi and more</h2>



In the same interview, Villeneuve explained that in order to be able to get the shot they wanted, cinematographer Greig Fraser used computer simulations to predict position of the sun at specific times to get the desired shot. 



Apart from shooting in Abu Dhabi and Jordan, filming for “Dune: Part Two” also took place in Budapest and Italy. According to Villneuve, production designer Patrice Vermette and his team constructed other sets, such as the Fremen’s rebellion base hidden in the rocks of Arrakis.



“You felt that you were inside the skeleton of some kind of huge animal,” Villeneuve said. According to Screen Rant, in the first movie, the United Arab Emirates doubled as the rock shelters used by the Fremens.



Per Collider, another location for Dune: Part Two was the city Altivole in the province of Treviso, Italy. According to IMDb, this location served the interiors of the Corrino household. To Villeneuve, it was important actors could be in real locations.

“They can take everything around them for granted. It’s there, it’s real and they can just focus on their relationships,” he told UPI. While the result is impressive, “Dune: Part Two” had a relatively modest (at least compared to other films of this scale) budget of $190 million.

<h2>Will there be a third Dune movie?</h2>



Villeneuve, who has written and directed the first two films, divided the first book into two parts. But the Canadian director has already confirmed that he has an interest in adapting the second book, “Dune: Messiah.” While Warner Bros. has not yet given the official greenlight for a third film so far, the director has said that he is working on the script.

In an interview with Time, Villeneuve said that “The screenplay is almost finished but it is not finished. It will take a little time […] There’s a dream of making a third movie […] it would make absolute sense to me.” Another member of the crew has also started working on the potential sequel, as composer Hans Zimmer has also started working on the score for the adaptation of “Dune: Messiah.”



Talking to Variety, Zimme revealed that he hasn’t stopped writing music for “Dune” because during the second day of shooting “Part Two,” “Denis wordlessly comes in and puts “Dune: Messiah” on my desk, and I know where we’re going and I know we’re not done,” he said.



However, Villeneuve also told Time that if “Messiah” moves forward, it would be his last movie for the Dune franchise. “’Dune Messiah’ should be the last ‘Dune’ movie for me,” he revealed to the publication.

While Villeneuve would be done with “Messiah,” Herbert’s original series continues with five sequels to “Dune”: “Dune Messiah,” “Children of Dune,” “God Emperor of Dune,” “Heretics of Dune” and “Chapterhouse: Dune.”

After being delayed several times, “Dune – Part Two” will finally arrive in theaters on March 1, and it promises to be one of the biggest movies of 2024. So, it’s not surprising that the first film is also trending on <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/netflix">Netflix</a> worldwide.



According to FlixPatrol, “Dune” has entered the Top 10 on Netflix globally. Meanwhile, in the US, the movie is the eighth most watched (as of Feb. 26). The movie, per JustWatch, is also available to stream on Max, Directv, TNT and TBS.

<h2>Dune: A star-studded sci-fi epic</h2>



Villeneuve’s first film, which was co-written with Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth, it’s the first of the two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. It isn’t the first adaptation of the novel, which was first brought to the screen by David Lynch’s 1984 film and John Harrison’s 2000 television miniseries.

However, Villneueve’s vision was critically acclaimed, something that Lynch’s work didn’t achieve. Apart from Chalamet and Zendaya, the first movie also stars Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.



Dune is set in the far distant future, and follows Paul Atreides (Chalamet) as his family, the noble House Atreides, as they get involved in a war for the deadly and inhospitable desert planet Arrakis. The film won six awards at the 94th Academy Awards and was nominated in four other categories, including Best Picture.

While it still hasn’t arrived in theaters in the US yet, the reviews are in and “Dune: Part Two” has a 97% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes with 153 critics’ reviews. The consensus reads: “Visually thrilling and narratively epic, Dune: Part Two continues Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of the beloved sci-fi series in spectacular form.”

The Golden Globes 2024 took place this Sunday (Jan. 7) and, among countless memes, it also gave us a chat between best friends Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift which the Internet hasn’t stopped obsessing over. Rumor has it that Gomez was gossiping about Timothée Chalamet and Kylie Jenner, but according to People that’s absolutely not true.



The actress, who was nominated for her work in Only Murders in the Building, was seemingly spilling some tea to Swift and Keleigh Sperry. While we don’t know what they were talking about, a source told People that “she was absolutely not referencing anything about Timothée or Kylie.”



Per People, the source clarifies that Gomez “never even saw or spoke to them.” However, in the video that made the rounds on X confirms that Sperry say “With Timothée?” But there’s no confirmation for the rest of the conversation.

Talking to GamesRadar+, Chalamet said that part of the reason he wanted to do it was because he “[loves] musical theater and I love song and dance,” and that he “didn’t think I’d get a chance to do it, not like this. But Paul King is one of these directors that you don’t say no to.”
