In recent years, Netflix has gained a controversial reputation for canceling numerous beloved series, despite their significant popularity within the platform’s catalog, leaving fans frustrated and in many cases, without closure.

Despite the critical and audience success of many of these productions, the platform has cut over 200 shows since 2015. In 2024, popular series such as Shadow & Bone, The Brothers Sun and Dead Boy Detectives were canceled.

This has sparked a wave of outrage on social media, leading to the viral hashtag #NetflixCancels. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has defended the strategy, stating that they have never canceled a “successful show“.

Several titles suffered at the hands of the strict Netflix team, and some were actually a success, even reaching the No. 1 series spot worldwide and in multiple countries. The hashtag has caused a major stir among users.

Netflix’s official account on X responded to a follower’s comment, where the user mentioned that popular shows were being canceled. They replied, “We don’t like leaving a story unfinished. We learned a lot from Sense8, and we’re going to try not to do this in the future“.

This response enraged fans and users, unleashing a wave of comments where they highlighted the numerous titles that have been canceled in recent years, all starting with Sense8.
