Many fans are still mourning the loss of “Mindhunter” after Netflix did not renew it for a third season, but now, after four years, there seems to be a new glimmer of hope for its possible return.

The plot takes place in the late 1970s and early 1980s, following two FBI agents, Holden Ford and Bill Tench, along with psychologist Wendy Carr, as they investigate and interview serial killers to develop criminal profiles.

The series was highly praised by critics and audiences, but it was canceled after two seasons in January 2020. The decision was partly due to the complexity of the production and the lack of a script that satisfied everyone involved.

Holt McCallany hints that Mindhunter could return

Holt McCallany, who portrayed Bill Tench in Mindhunter, has spoken again about the series, and this time he has given new hope to fans of the iconic Netflix show, which went off the air in 2020.

The news site JOE.ie reported that the actor gave an interview some time ago with Awards Daily about his role in The Iron Claw, where he ended up saying that he would be more than willing to return once again to the crime TV show.

Interviewer David Phillips told the star: “There is a huge subculture of Mindhunter fans… who have not given up on the idea that there could be a third season. We refuse to give up on it“.

As expected, the conversation didn’t end there. The actor responded, “I’ve heard that David’s thought about it [Bringing Mindhunter back for a new season]… if it comes back, I’m coming back with it. You can take that to the bank”.

This means the decision is in the hands of the streaming giant and Mindhunter’s director, executive producer and showrunner, David Fincher. Fans have been asking more than ever for the drama’s return, which is a good sign.
