While crime thrillers such as “Baby Reindeer” and “Bodkin” have become some of the most-watched shows on Netflix, there’s always something for those who are looking for a more lighthearted watch. And the Turkish rom-com “Thank You, Next” is perfect for that.
The new series has reached the second spot of the global Top 10, according to FlixPatrol. And it’s a feat that it achieved in only two days after its release on May 9. The series, for now, has one season of eight episodes.
Created by Ece Yörenç, “Thank You, Next” takes the best from the romantic comedy genre, and delivers a charming, entertaining story. Here’s all you need to know about this series that promises to fill the void until the release of Season 4 of “Emily in Paris.”
Netflix: All you need to know about ‘Thank You, Next’
The series, which originally is titled Kimler Geldi Kimler Geçti, follows Leyla (played by Serenay Sarikaya), a smart, skilled lawyer whose heart has been recently broken, leaving her with a personal crisis after her latest partner Omer (Metin Akdülger) betrayed her.
However, her already fragile emotional state will be put to test after she has to represent the latest wife of Cem Murathan (Hakan Kurtas), a rich, handsome man who has been married three times. Whether she wants it or not, she feels an intense connection with him, complicating matters.
As many other series centered around dating, it questions how modernity and our new values (as well as social and economical structures) help us or make it more difficult for us to find real, ever-lasting love.
The rest of the cast includes Boran Kuzum as Feyyaz, Zeynep Tugçe Bayat as Beliz, Bade Iscil as Tuba, Ahmet Rifat Sungar as Sarp, Gülcan Arslan as Defne, and Sümeyra Koç as Nil, among others.
