The three stars lead this heist comedy, which also blends drama and action. After its release in theaters in March, “Crew” grossed around $20 million worldwide, making it one of the Hindi highest-grossing films of the year. And, now, the movie is having a second life with international audiences on Netflix.
‘Crew,’ an action comedy that triumphs on Netflix
Helmed by Rajesh A Krishnan, “Crew” follows three flight attendants that worked for an airline that is on the verge of bankruptcy. Each of them had their own debts and family problems and, one day, they will find themselves in the middle of a gold smuggling operation, which will turn their lives upside down.
The rest of the cast includes Diljit Dosanjh, Kapil Sharma, Rajesh Sharma, Saswata Chatterjee, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Ivan Rodrigues, Trupti Khamkar, Garima Yajnik, Charu Shankar, and Ramakant Dayma.
Apart from being a box office success, the movie was also well received by critics, who praised the three leads for their performance, as well as the entertaining nature of the movie, which doesn’t try to make a political statement, but gives the audience a great time.
On the other hand, the lead actresses have shared their excitement for the film’s warm reception, as in Bollywood, as well as in Hollywood, producers still hesitate to give female-led movies a chance. Kapoor Khan told PTI she is happy that the film “has broken barriers. It started the conversation that women also can break box office rules.” And surely, “Crew” has proven them right.
