Directed by Lee Isaac Chung (“Minari”), “Twisters” is set to be one of the biggest movies of the summer. The expectations are high as the film stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, who after the successes of “Anyone But You” and “Hit Man,” is deemed as Tom Cruise’s successor (blessed by the ‘Mission: Impossible’ actor himself).
In this sequel, which is more a “new chapter” than having a true connection to the original, Edgar-Jones’ plays Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser who left the field after a devastating encounter with a tornado. However, convinced by her friend Javi (Anthony Ramos), she comes back to Oklahoma to test a groundbreaking new tracking system.
Here’s when Powell’s Tyler Owens, a charming social media star and storm chaser enters. Both Tyler and Kate will form a connection while trying to navigate an unusual intense tornado season. Glen Powell as Tyler
Powell stars as Tyler Owens, a social media star and reckless storm chaser. Powell is coming fresh from starrring in Netflix’s rom com “Hit Man”, as well as “Anyone But You.” He is also known for his supporting role in “Top Gun: Maverick”.
Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate
Edgar-Jones stars as Kate, a meteorologist and former storm chaser. You have seen her before in Hulu’s smash hit series “Normal People” (2020) in which she starred alongside Paul Mescal, as well as in the dramatic thriller “Where The Crawdads Sing” (2023).
Anthony Ramos as Javi
Ramos appears as Javi, Kate’s former storm chaser colleague. You know him from several Broadway shows, especially “Hamilton” (for which he won an Emmy for the recorded version). He also appeared in “A Star A Born” (2018), “In The Heights” (2021) and “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” (2023).
Brandon Perea as Boone
Perea plays Boone, a videographer and member of Tyler’s crew. You probably know him for his role as Alfonso Sosa on Netflix’s “The OA,” as well as for playing Angel Torres in Jordan Peele’s 2022 science fiction horror film “Nope.”
Sasha Lane as Lily
Lane plays Lily, a drone operator and member of Tyler’s crew. She is known for starring in Hulu’s “Conversation With Friends,” as well as appearing in “Loki” as Hunter C-20.
Daryl McCormack as Jeb
McCormack appears as Jeb, Kate’s boyfriend and member of her former storm chasing team. He is best known for the BBC series “Peaky Blinders” (2019–2022), the film “Pixie” (2020), and the Apple TV+ series “Bad Sisters” (2022). He is also famous for starring in “Good Luck To You, Leo Grande” in 2022.
Kiernan Shipka as Addy
Andy, a member of Kate’s former storm chasing team, is played by Kiernan Shipka. She is best known for her role as Sabrina in Netflix’s remake of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.” She recently also appeared in The CW’s “Riverdale.”
Nik Dodani as Praveen
Another member of Kate’s chaser team. Dodani is a comedian known for his roles as Zahid in the Netflix comedy-drama series Atypical, and Pat Patel in the revival of the popular CBS sitcom Murphy Brown
Maura Tierney as Cathy
Golden Globe winner Tierny plays Cathy, Kate’s mother. She is best known for her several TV roles in series such as “ER” and “The Affair.” She recently also appeared in films like “Beautiful Boy” (2018), “The Report” (2019), and “The Iron Claw” (2023).
