According to Marca, the influencer currently has a net worth of $3 million. Her financial situation is reportedly linked to her unexpected rise as a public figure, particularly due to her various audiovisual projects.

The money she has raised comes from multiple documentaries and adaptations (both in film and television) of real crimes that have featured her. She has also signed book deals, so her memoirs could be coming soon.

Cosmopolitan also stated that her popularity is attributed to her efforts to raise awareness about Munchausen by proxy syndrome. Blanchard reflected on her life and how she got to where she is, confessing:

“I never thought my life would become the subject of documentaries and true crime shows. But now I have the opportunity to raise awareness about the complexities of Munchausen by proxy syndrome and contribute to the understanding of abuse“.

What is the Munchausen by proxy syndrome?

Munchausen by proxy syndrome, also known as factitious disorder imposed on another, is a psychological disorder in which a caregiver, usually the mother, fabricates or induces illnesses in the person under their care, often a child.

The term “Munchausen by proxy” is derived from Munchausen syndrome, a disorder in which a person simulates or induces medical symptoms in themselves to receive medical attention. In this case, the caregiver seeks constant medical attention and presents themselves as a compassionate and dedicated caregiver.

They may invent symptoms, exaggerate existing health problems, or even cause real injuries or illnesses in the person under their care. The syndrome is considered a form of child abuse, as the caregiver is intentionally causing harm to the child to fulfill their own emotional needs for attention and sympathy.
