As the 2020s continue to be defined by her unprecedented cultural and commercial dominance, Taylor Swift has officially ascended to a new peak on the Billboard Hot 100.

In just six years, Taylor Swift has rewritten the rules of longevity in the streaming era. With “Opalite” hitting No. 1, Swift has now earned nine #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in the 2020s alone. This achievement places her far ahead of any other artist this decade, breaking her previous tie with Drake and Ariana Grande. Since 2020, she has essentially averaged at least one chart-topping single per year, proving that her “Eras” are moving faster and more successfully than the rest of the industry can keep up with.

‘The Life of A Showgirl’ Echoes the ‘1989’ Legacy

For over a decade, the 2014 blockbuster 1989 stood alone in Swift’s discography as her only album to produce multiple #1 singles (“Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” and “Bad Blood”). That changed today. ‘The Life of A Showgirl’ has officially become her second studio album to produce multiple No. 1 songs, with “Opalite” joining the album’s lead single, “The Fate of Ophelia,” at the summit.

“This is actually the first time I’ve had two Hot 100 #1s off of one album since my album 1989 came out in 2014, nearly twelve years ago!” Swift shared with fans on Instagram this morning. “I know that’s a lot of numbers, but it all adds up to me being so thankful to the fans who helped make this happen…”

Tying the Barbadian Queen: The 21st Century Record

Beyond the decade’s stats, Taylor has reached a milestone in the all-time history of the new millennium. With 14 career No. 1s, Taylor Swift now ties Rihanna as the female artist with the most #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 in the 21st century. Both icons now sit at 14 chart-toppers since the year 2000, placing them in an elite bracket shared only by legends like The Beatles (20) and Mariah Carey (19) in the overall history of the chart.
