Jonathan Majors was given a one-year counseling program for domestic violence after being found guilty last year of harassing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Judge Michael Gaffey made this decision on Monday in a Manhattan court, nearly four months after Majors was found guilty in a two-week trial.
Following the verdict, Majors was fired from Disney’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, where he portrayed the villain Kang the Conqueror, and his acting career seems uncertain. He was previously let go by his management company, Entertainment 360, and his publicity firm, the Lede Company.
The actor must attend a 52-week in-person domestic violence program in Los Angeles, where he currently lives. There might be some virtual sessions in the future. He also has to continue his mental health therapy and provide updates on his progress. The judge also ordered that Majors have no contact with Jabbari through a permanent protection order.
Who is Grace Jabbari, Majors’ ex-girlfriend?
Jabbari is a 30-year-old British dancer. According to her IMDB, she has worked as a dancer in movies like Barbie, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One and Coldplay’s “Cry Cry Cry” music video.
She and Majors met on the set of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where she was working as movement director for the film. They dated for two years, from August 2021. According to what Jabbari told jurors of the case, their relationship moved “fast” and he presented a pattern of abuse.
In a victim impact statement, Jabbari said that Majors “is not sorry” for his actions: “I will not rest until he’s not a danger. He refuses to acknowledge guilt and take responsibility. He remains a danger to all those around him. I’ve seen his anger and he doesn’t have control over it.”
What did Jonathan Majors do?: The reason for his sentence
Majors was charged with four counts: two counts of harassment and two counts of assault due to a March 2023 incident that took place in the backseat of a private vehicle. According to Jabbari’s account, Majors slapped her, threw her into the car after she exited it, twisted her arm and grabbed and injured her hand.

He did not testify during the trial and pleaded not guilty to all counts, but his defense team has repeatedly alleged that Jabbari, not Majors, was the aggressor in the vehicle that night. However, he was convicted of two of the four charges by a jury in December.
Will Jonathan Majors go to jail?
No, Majors won’t be going to jail if he serves his sentence. However, he could be facing jail time if he violates the permanent restraining order prohibiting any contact between him and Jabbari or if he engages in any criminal activity.
Judge Gaffey explained that Majors’ absence of criminal history and prior arrests contributed to his decision not to give the actor jail time. He could have faced up to a year in prison.
Is there another lawsuit?
Last month, Jabbari filed a lawsuit against Majors, accusing him of attacking her and damaging her reputation by speaking on “Good Morning America.” During the interview on ABC, Majors stated he never harmed a woman physically. Jabbari also claimed Majors of physically assaulting her, causing emotional pain deliberately, and wrongly prosecuting her.
In her legal action, Jabbari asserted that Majors had assaulted her on multiple occasions before the altercation in March 2023, including incidents in London and Los Angeles. The lawsuit also disclosed text messages exchanged when they were together, where Majors discouraged Jabbari from seeking medical help and made threats of self-harm. Some excerpts from these texts were presented in the trial held in December, although they were only considered as contextual information and not as direct evidence in the case.
