Henry Cavill is ready to step into the shoes of a soldier for Guy Ritchie‘s new film: The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which is based on a true story and the book written by Damien Lewis.
The story is not the typical one that brings together a group trying to thwart the Nazis in World War II, but humor and irony have a significant influence within the narrative and the behavior of the main characters.
The Netflix‘s The Witcher actor is not the only superstar set to star in the upcoming action thriller; he will be joined by figures like Alan Ritchson, Eiza González, Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Alex Pettyfer and Henry Golding.
When will The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare be released?
The countdown for The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare has already begun, and the highly anticipated film directed by Guy Ritchie will hit the big screen on Friday, April 19 of this year, so the wait is almost over. It will first premiere in theaters worldwide and then make its streaming debut.
In the United States, it will be added to Lionsgate‘s catalog, while in Europe, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa, India and Asia, it will be available on Prime Video. It is not yet known when it will be released here exactly, as it must first spend some time in theaters.
What is the story about?
Drama, action, comedy and explosive moments are just some of the factors that characterize this atypical anti-Nazi story. Packed with A-list stars, the plot follows the British army recruiting a small group of highly skilled soldiers to attack Hitler’s forces behind enemy lines during World War II.
The narrative is presented as a true story about the secret combat organization, founded by Winston Churchill and Ian Fleming. This less-than-chivalrous war by British fighters gave rise to modern black operations, known for being clandestine and carried out by a government agency.
The movie features a script by the filmmaker himself and Arash Amel, based on the book of the same name written by British war correspondent and military historian Damien Lewis. According to GQ, the novel begins by stating that France fell to the Nazis in 1940, prompting Churchill to take matters into his own hands.
Who are the cast of the film?
The cast is not only packed with well-established A-list stars but also features some rising figures. Henry Cavill leads the group as Gus, while Eiza González, Henry Golding and Hero Fiennes Tiffin are just a few of his right-hand individuals.
