The tension between characters in the second season of House of the Dragon is already palpable, and the new episodes not only promise epic scenes but will also bring a wave of “fire and blood“.
The prequel will not only bring back its former stars, such as Matt Smith and Olivia Cooke, but will also introduce new characters, who are known in the fictional universe of “A Song of Ice and Fire”.
The episodes will be added to the Max catalog every Sunday, as is customary with Game of Thrones series. Therefore, the first episode will air on Sunday the 16th, marking the start of the new edition of the fantasy show.

Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark
Cregan Stark was the Lord of Winterfell and Warden of the North during the 2nd century after the Conquest of Aegon. He is known for his role in the Targaryen civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons.
In the series, he is portrayed by Tom Taylor (The Last Kingdom and Us), and during the end of the first season, Jacaerys was sent to speak with him, making it an important recurring role in the second installment.
Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull
Alyn of Hull is an important figure in the history of House Velaryon and plays a significant role in the events following the Dance of the Dragons. He and his older brother were legitimized by Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen and were given the surname Velaryon.
Abubakar Salim has been chosen to portray the character and is best known for voicing characters in several major video game franchises. Among the most popular are Assassin’s Creed, Diablo and World of Warcraft.
Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers
Alys Rivers was a bastard woman and healer residing in Harrenhal during the Targaryen civil war. She was attributed with magical abilities and prophetic visions. She had a significant influence on the events of the Dance of the Dragons.
She became the lover of Ser Aemond Targaryen, one of the main fighters of the Greens, who supported Aegon II Targaryen in his struggle against his half-sister Rhaenyra Targaryen for the Iron Throne.
The character will be brought to life by Gayle Rankin, the Scottish actress who previously worked in productions such as the series GLOW and the movies Bad Things, Men and Irreplaceable You, among others.
Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower
Gwayne Hightower is the son of Otto Hightower, the Hand of the King to several Targaryen kings, and the brother of Alicent Hightower, who becomes the wife of King Viserys I Targaryen in the first season.
As a member of House Hightower, his loyalty and actions are deeply intertwined with his family’s political and military machinations. His role as a knight contributes to the complex web of alliances.
Freddie Fox will bring the character to life in the second installment of HBO’s prequel and has previously appeared in projects such as Slow Horses, The Great, The Crown and some voice acting roles.
Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull
Addam of Hull was born a bastard and grew up in the port city of Hull. He was described as a brave young man skilled with dragons. During the Dance of the Dragons, Addam was legitimized by Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen.
He is the brother of Alyn and was one of the few individuals who managed to ride a dragon, specifically Seasmoke, the dragon previously ridden by Laenor Velaryon.
Clinton Liberty (Normal People and Red Election) is the one who will bring the character to life in the new episodes and will have a quite interesting role, as the dragon seeds will have the opportunity to claim unbound dragons.
Kieran Bew as Hugh
Hugh is a young squire of House Arryn who serves at the Hand’s Tourney in King’s Landing. During the tournament, he is selected as the opponent for the young knight Gregor Clegane in the jousting competition.
He is another dragon seed and used to live on Dragonstone. The actor chosen to bring the role to life is Kieran Bew, who previously worked on projects like the series Warrior and some video games.
Tom Bennett as Ulf
Ulf the Immortal was an Ironborn, a warrior from the Iron Islands, known for his great size and strength. He served as the personal bodyguard and champion of Balon Greyjoy, the Lord of the Iron Islands during the War of the Usurper.
He participated in several battles, including the Battle of Fair Isle, where he fought on behalf of the Greyjoys against the forces loyal to the Iron Throne. Now, Tom Bennet is the one who will bring to life the character.
Simon Russell Beale as Simon Strong
Simon Strong is a member of the Night’s Watch, the order tasked with guarding the Wall at the northernmost end of the Seven Kingdoms. He is the great-great-uncle of Lord Larys Strong, who rules in Harrenhal.
Simon Russell Beale, one of the biggest stars in the industry, will bring the character to life, adding even more prestige and epic scenes to the popular spin-off derived from Game of Thrones.
Michael Elwyn as Lord Staunton
Lord Staunton is the head of House Staunton, a noble family in the Seven Kingdoms. Additionally, he is a member of Rhaenyra’s council and the Lord of Rook’s Rest, so he will have an important role in the upcoming events.
Michael Elwyn has been the right choice to bring the character to life, known for other projects such as Doctor Who and Foundation, among other great television successes.
