We didn’t know we needed a Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg collaboration until “The Union” arrived, revealing just how essential it was. Within hours of its release, the action film became the most-watched movie worldwide on Netflix, according to FlixPatrol.

The picture centers on Mark’s character, Mike McKenna, an everyday construction worker who is unexpectedly thrust into the world of super spies and secret agents by his high school flame, Roxanne Hall.

The chemistry they exhibit both in the movie and during promotional activities has left many fans eager for another collaboration. So, will it happen? Here’s what they said on the matter.

Will Halle Berry and Mark Wahlberg star together again?

While Mark Wahlberg and Halle Berry didn’t directly address the possibility of future collaborations, they provided many interesting insights during an interview with Variety at the premiere of “The Union.” When asked why their characters didn’t share a kiss in the film, director David Farino explained:

“We take the relationship to a certain place, and then I think you’ve got to leave a lot of space to go,” the filmmaker told Variety. “Netflix always said to us at the beginning, ‘You have to think of this as a possible three-movie idea.’ So if an audience comes out wanting a kiss, then we’ve probably done alright, in my opinion.”

Halle Berry supported Farino’s comments, adding, “Once they kiss, then it’s over. We’re hoping if we get to do a second one, we’ll let that chase continue,” Berry explained. “You want to see the journey — to see these two high school sweethearts find each other.”

So, there you have it! The dynamic duo plans to reunite once again. However, Mark Wahlberg cautioned that while Netflix plans to potentially expand “The Union” into two more installments, it depends on the success of the first production.

And, sometimes, simply ranking #1 on the charts for more than five weeks isn’t enough. As seen with Prime Video‘s “My Lady Jane,” which was canceled despite its success, the continuation of the action film series depends on Netflix officially confirming the next steps. So, we’ll need to wait for them to announce if Berry and Wahlberg will reunite on screen for future installments.
