What are Robert De Niro’s next projects?
Mr. Natural
Mr. Natural is the upcoming crime thriller series featuring Robert De Niro as the protagonist and, so far, the only cast member. The crime production was created by Mitch Glazer, and according to Variety, the project is conceived as a multi-season series.
The story follows Louis Baron, who arrives in Palm Springs driven by revenge, the dream of reuniting with his stolen family, and a dangerous plan to seize the billions of lithium in the Salton Sea. There will be blood in the sand and bones in the desert.
Alto Knights – November, 15
Wise Guys, also known as Alto Knights, is the crime and drama biopic directed by Barry Levinson, with a script developed by Nicholas Pileggi. The film is expected to be released on November 15, 2024.
The story revolves around Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, two Italian-Americans who lead different crime families in the mid-20th century. In 1957, Genovese attempted to assassinate Costello, who later retired from the mafia.
Robert will portray Vito, while Cosmo Jarvis will play the role of Vincent Gigante. The cast will feature a lineup of talented individuals, including Kathrine Narducci, Matt Servitto, Debra Messing, Belmont Cameli, Carrie Lazar and Louis Mustillo.
Tin Soldier – 2024
Tin Soldier is the upcoming 2024 film that will bring De Niro back to the dramatic genre. It will be directed by Brad Furman, based on a script written by Jess Fuerst and Brad Furman. Filming has already begun, and the cast is filled with stars.
Jamie Foxx, Scott Eastwood, Joey Bicicchi, John Leguizamo, Rita Ora, Shamier Anderson, Nora Arnezeder, Saïd Taghmaoui and Laurence Mason are some of the figures who will accompany the Taxi Driver actor throughout the film.
The story follows a mysterious leader who recruits tormented war veterans into his cult-like program, causing concern for the government due to the growing army of devoted, armed, and trained Shinjas.
Zero Day – tba
Zero Day is the second series title that will be led by De Niro, as he was previously featured in the Argentine series “Nada”. In total, it will consist of six episodes, directed by Lesli Linka Glatter and featuring prominent actors from the industry.
Among the notable figures are Jesse Plemons, Lizzy Caplan, Connie Britton, Angela Bassett, Matthew Modine, Joan Allen, McKinley Belcher III, Dan Stevens, Bill Camp, Mozhan Navabi and Cuyle Carvin.
“In the midst of a crisis: how to discover the truth when it seems like the world is being destroyed by uncontrollable forces? Moreover, to what extent are conspiracy theories inventions of our own or products of our imagination?” describes the synopsis.
Robert will portray the former President of the United States in his first leading role on television. The release date is yet to be announced, but it is expected to be sometime between 2024 and early 2025.
Untitled Jonathan Jakubowicz project – tba
From the long list of upcoming projects that Robert De Niro has, one of them remains quite cryptic, but it is an action film directed and written by Jonathan Jakubowicz.
So far, the cast is only confirmed with Edgar Ramírez in the role of J.M, while the Oscar-winning actor will portray G.B. The release date is yet to be announced, but indications suggest it won’t be in 2024.
After Exile – tba
The actor will portray Ted Delaney in the upcoming crime and drama film, After Exile. It will be directed by Dito Montiel, based on a script by Anthony Thorne and Michael Tovo, who was responsible for writing the story.
The story follows a man who, after serving an eight-year prison sentence for involuntary manslaughter, tries to come to terms with what he has done. Shia LaBeouf will co-star alongside De Niro, playing the role of Mike Delaney.
The film directed by Joshua Michael Stern does not have a release date yet, but it is believed to hit the big screen sometime in 2025. In this movie, the iconic actor will portray LaBeouf’s father.
