“I remember watching [Hidden Figures] for the first time on the Fox lot — and this was before all the effects were done, the music was in [and] the sound design — and I literally left the movie, and I puked in the bushes.”



He expressed his anxiety over potentially misrepresenting the real-life figure, particularly given John Glenn’s status as the third American in space and the first to orbit the Earth, completing three circuits in 1962. Additionally, he feared this might influence how critics perceived the narrative about the team of female African-American mathematicians.



However, upon viewing the final cut with all elements in place, he found some relief. In his own words, “Once the music gets in there, it starts being polished a little bit.”

“The Blue Angels” was directed by Paul Crowder and features the presence of multiple soldiers who have taken flight and voiced to recount their intense training in a heart-pounding air art season.



The production, which was filmed with IMAX cameras, premiered just a day ago and is already the top trend on the platform in the American catalog. Many have related it to Top Gun: Maverick, the film co-starring the actor.

Glen Powell described how filming with IMAX cameras made the project truly immersive, saying “When I flew with them… I couldn’t believe the perspective, I was like ‘I don’t how to describe this to people, I hope I get to show someone what this is like’”.



Therefore, it can be expected that each scene will be better than the other, providing a truly unique experience through the screen. The movie lasts about an hour and a half, following the veterans.



The story portrays the new promotion of the Navy and Marine Corps flight squadron in their intense training, as they carry out a truly heart-pounding flight season.

And now the film has also made a splash on its streaming debut on <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/netflix">Netflix</a>, becoming the number 1 movie on the platform only a day after its release (April 23), according to FlixPatrol.



“Anyone But You,” as other <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/movies/anyone-but-you-and-other-films-based-on-classic-literature-works-where-to-watch-them-20240219-SPEN-6930.html">movies, is loosely based on a William Shakespeare’s play</a>, specifically Much Ado About Nothing. The actress, who also served as executive producer, has revealed that she was very involved in the marketing strategy of the film, including leaning in into those rumors of her and Powell having a real-life affair.



“That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully. Sydney is very smart,” Powell told The New York Times.



However, the real triumph of “Anyone But You” was connecting with the audience through a good mix of nostalgia (Natasha Bedingfield’s song “Unwritten” is played throughout the movie), as well as embracing what everyone wants from the genre: true romance and big laughs.

Before “Anyone But You,” Will Gluck took inspiration from Nathaniel Hawthorne’s “The Scarlet Letter” to create a teen classic, “Easy A.” The film stars Emma Stone as Olive, who becomes an outcast when a series of rumors about her intimate life start circulating out of control.

Gluck takes advantage of Shakespeare’s original play to, well, play with deceptiveness and comedic situations while following the same principle: Bea and Ben start as enemies (or rivals), while they also are being pushed by friends and family to get together.

<h2>Will Gluck talked about the chemistry between the protagonists</h2>



During an interview with Above the Line, the director spoke about creating the project that now shines among the titles in the romance genre but emphasized the chemistry between the rom-com’s protagonists, Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell.



“Honestly, the chemistry I saw between Syd and [Glen]… people always talk about chemistry, that crazy word, but the first time Sydney arrived in Australia that Sunday, straight from Italy after filming her movie ‘Immaculate,’ which is this Italian Vatican movie. She came to Sydney on Sunday, they sat where we were staying, and they started rehearsing, and in about a minute, I thought, ‘Oh my God, thank God. This is amazing,’ and nothing else mattered except these two, and then we got to work”, Will Gluck confessed.

Later, when asked about the script he co-wrote with Ilana Wolpert, he spoke about sharing the film with both actors and the back-and-forth he had regarding the story. There, he confessed:



“I heard there was a script that Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell were attached to, and I always wanted to work with them. I called them and said, ‘What’s going on with this?’ We all met, talked for a long time, and then said, ‘What if we do this? We’d like to do it this way.’ So we all joined hands and did it the way we wanted, and we got to work. Everything came together pretty quickly“.



<h2>Glen Powell talked about romantic comedies</h2>



Emma Baty from Cosmopolitan conducted an interview with the actor who portrayed Ben in the romantic comedy. He spoke about his experience with the genre (with which he is no stranger, having acted in several) and how he feels about participating in this type of projects.



There, she asked Glen Powell about his feelings regarding the current state of this type of production, and he confessed:



“The romcom has now mostly gone to the streamers, which is completely fine, but I think it’s taken away from the cinematic theatrical part where we don’t just buy this as comfort food. 



The romcoms you and I grew up on were actually great movies. I watched My Best Friend’s Wedding the other day and it’s so fun. It’s things like that, where you’re not just making a romcom because that’s a genre that needs to fill out a piece of an algorithm, but putting care into into it”.

The criticism received by the new romantic comedy has been diverse, and some of the writers working for major outlets such as Variety or IndieWire have been quite harsh but objective.



David Ehrlich wrote for IndieWire: “Anyone But You may not be funny or memorable enough to make romantic comedies matter again as a genre, but it might bring us a little closer to that goal precisely because it doesn’t burden itself with that objective. This is nothing more than old-fashioned frivolity with freshly created stars and a luxurious supporting cast“.

The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/top-gun">“Top Gun: Maverick”</a> star is coming from the success of his newest rom-com “Anyone But You,” in which he acts opposite <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/sydney-sweeney">Sydney Sweeney.</a>

The movie follows the actor as Becket Redfellow, the heir to a multi-million dollar fortune who decides to speed up the inheritance process by bumping off the family members in between him and the cash.

After the confirmation of another Top Gun film, Powell is also set to reprise his role as Hangman. “I don’t know when I’ll be going back… I’m sure there is a jet waiting for me sometime in the future,” he told Variety.

<h3>Chad Powers (Series) </h3>



According to The Hollywood Reporter, Powell will star in this upcoming Hulu comedy series as a disgraced college football quarterback who disguises himself and walks on to another school’s team.



He co-created the series with Michael Waldron, the creator of Loki and writer of the next two Avengers movies. It’s based on an episode of ESPN+’s Eli’s Places, in which former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning goes undercover as a walk-on prospect named Chad Powers at Penn State.



<h3>The Running Man </h3>



Powell is set to headline Edgar Wright’s “The Running Man,” stepping into a role originally portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 cult classic. This dystopian action movie is adapted from a novel of the same title by renowned horror author Stephen King, initially released under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. In October 2024, it was confirmed that the remake will hit theaters on November 21, 2025.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Glen Powell, Anthony Mackie, and Laura Dern are set to headline John Lee Hancock’s upcoming film “MONSANTO.” The movie recounts the real-life tale of attorney Brent Wisner (played by Powell), who courageously tackled a seemingly impossible case against a major U.S. chemical corporation, advocating for Dewayne “Lee” Johnson (portrayed by Mackie).

Speaking to Netflix Tudum, Linklater said that the film is “about a lot of things” but, ultimately, it is “just a guy who gets in a little too deep. His passions lead him in a direction where he’s deceiving someone he’s in love with, and being someone else. They have to deal with those repercussions.”



While the film is inspired by a real life character, the late Gary Johnson, who worked as a fake hit man for the police, the story is fictionalized and the plot twists are totally the invention of the screenwriters.
