“The Lord of the Rings” is one of the most successful franchises in the history of cinema, and a few years ago, they continued expanding the universe of elves and epic fantasy with a spin-off series on Prime Video.
Following the success of the TV show “The Rings of Power“, Amazon confirmed the arrival of its second season to the catalog, so we will have more episodes that tell how the iconic story began.
The fantasy prequel is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, a period that precedes the events of the original trilogy. Several actors will return for the new season of episodes, including Charlie Vickers as Sauron.
When does Season 2 premiere on Prime Video?
The second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” will have its grand debut on Prime Video’s catalog on August 29 of this year, so we are only a few months away from finding out how the successful prequel continues.
The series was nominated six times for the Primetime Emmys and has established itself as one of the most-watched on all of Amazon, breaking multiple records and competing in 2022 with “House of the Dragon” from Max.
The new season will consist of eight episodes in total, which are believed to be released gradually, one per week, as was done with the first season, according to several major entertainment media outlets.
The previous episodes unfold over a period spanning thousands of years and are known for being a highly significant era in the history of Middle-earth, which includes several key moments in the saga such as:
- The forging of the Rings of Power.
- The rise and fall of kingdoms.
- The emergence of evil leading to the Last Alliance of Elves and Men.
