Heartstopper, the series nominated for three BAFTAs, has achieved remarkable success since its debut on Netflix in April 2022, becoming a cultural phenomenon and a benchmark for LGBTQ+ representation on television.

As of October 2024, it already has three seasons, which have made every viewer who has given Alice Oseman‘s creation a chance cry, laugh, fall in love and go crazy for almost two continuous years.

Now, the writer has spoken about the future of the coming-of-age drama starring Joe Locke and Kit Connor. She not only referenced the fourth season but also the sixth and final volume of her comic saga.

Will Heartstopper get a fourth season on Netflix?

Not yet! Heartstopper has not been renewed for a fourth season at the moment, so its future remains somewhat unclear. However, we can estimate that it’s only a matter of time before the long-awaited announcement.

The first season of the title covered the first two volumes of Alice Oseman‘s comics, while the second season not only covered the next one but also added more content. The third season portrays the 4th and 5th volumes.

Therefore, the fourth season would focus on the last book of the romantic graphic novel series for teens. The British author has not yet finished this work but is well advanced in writing her next comic.

This will be the final installment of the story, so it’s likely that if Netflix renews the series for another season, the episodes would depict the conclusion of Nick and Charlie’s long journey. The author referenced this and said:

I’m only 50 pages in, but I know what’s going to happen, what all the dialogue is going to be, and now I’m just sitting down and drawing it, which is my favourite bit. I’m really excited about what’s going to happen towards the end of the story, but it’s also very bittersweet. I also feel it’s absolutely the right time for it to end. It’s very sad, but it’s time“.

On the other hand, Alice also assured that she is really eager for the streaming service to greenlight the continuation of the TV show because she wants her characters to have a good ending on screen.

If we get a fourth season of the show, it will use volume 6 of Heartstopper and the Nick and Charlie novella as the source material. I am very much hoping that there will be a fourth season, so the show gets to have a proper ending! I’m praying to the gods! Begging on my knees! Having nightmares about it regularly, etc!“, she said.
