That’s right, fans! True Detective is back on Max with a fourth season. After the iconic HBO series took a long hiatus, the police anthology is returning with new episodes filled with suspense and drama. This time, the story follows two detectives, Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro, investigating the disappearance of eight men in the fictional city of Ennis, Alaska. To make the delivery even more special, it is the first season to carry a subtitle, being Night Country this time.
Although Pizzolatto will not return as showrunner or writer but as an executive producer, the project is in good hands. Issa López is the one in charge of the production, serving as showrunner, writer, and director. During an interview, the Mexican filmmaker spoke about how different the series is this time.
She assured that she chose to create a “dark mirror” of the first season, “Where True Detective is masculine and sweaty, Night Country is cold and dark and feminine”. Because of this, Jodie Foster and Kali Reis have been chosen as the two lead actresses.

Each of the six episodes will arrive on the Max platform at the same time. They will be released on different days but at 6 PM PT and 9 PM ET every Sunday. Therefore, the last installment of the fourth season will be added to the catalog on February 25, bringing an end to the new story.
