Now, Disney is giving fans an intimate look at the woman behind those famous roles. The new documentary promises to cover her whole journey, starting from her early years performing in British vaudeville theater to her rise as an international superstar.

While the documentary does not have an official title yet, Disney confirmed that the film will go far beyond her biggest movie hits. It will explore her personal life, her quiet courage, her moments of heartbreak, and how she continually reinvented herself throughout her career.

The Team Behind the Film
The project is helmed by director and producer R.J. Cutler, who previously directed well-received music and celebrity documentaries including Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry, Elton John: Never Too Late, and Martha.
“Julie Andrews is not simply a beloved performer,” Cutler said in a statement. “She is a cultural touchstone… Most people don’t know the extraordinary challenges she’s had to overcome throughout her life, all of which we delve into in this film.”
The documentary is produced by This Machine (a part of Sony Pictures Television) alongside Disney.
