After several months of absence, all the details about the 2025 Met Gala have finally been revealed at a press conference at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, where the event will take place.
The next edition of the prestigious night will have a special touch, as it is the first time since 2003 that its theme will focus on men’s formal wear, based on the style of Black men throughout history.
The luxurious fashion event will be funded by the social media platform Instagram and the luxury brand Louis Vuitton. Unlike previous years, this time there will be no women other than Anna Wintour among the co-chairs.

The co-chairs of the upcoming Met Gala have been revealed, and in 2025, they will all be men, except for Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who is always present as one of the main heads of the event.
The singer and designer Pharrell Williams, Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton, musician A$AP Rocky and actor Colman Domingo will accompany the editor (who has an exorbitant net worth), along with honorary host LeBron James.
What will be the theme of the Met Gala 2025?
The theme of next year’s Met Gala is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style“, which will celebrate the influence of Black fashion throughout history. The museum explained that the exhibition will delve into the men’s fashion of Black dandies.
These were men distinguished by their elegance in dressing and it will cover the period from the 18th century to the present, highlighting how their style influenced the identity of the Black Atlantic diaspora located in America, Britain and the Caribbean.
The exhibition is inspired by the book by professor and director of the Africana Studies program at Barnard College, Monica Miller, titled “Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity”.
During a press conference on Wednesday, October 9, Miller spoke about the upcoming prestigious event and how it will take place. There, the museum showcased several outfits that will be featured, and Monica said:
“The exhibition will illustrate how the Black population transitioned from being enslaved and stylized as luxury objects, acquired like any other sign of wealth and status, to becoming autonomous individuals who set global trends“.
