After the celebration of the Euro 2024 and the Copa America, the sports events will continue with the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. And the expectation surrounding the opening ceremony has started as there are several artists rumored to participate in the show.
The opening ceremony for the 2024 Olympics will take place on Friday, July 26 in Paris. It’s the first time that the ceremony will take place outside of a stadium, as it will be held along the Seine River that runs through the city.
The show will include 85 boats carrying athletes from each Olympic delegation on a four-mile parade. It will start from the Pont d’Austerlitz and it will culminate at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. It will have 3,500 actors, dancers and musical performers.
Will Lady Gaga sing at the Opening Ceremony for 2024 Paris Olympics?
Just days before the biggest sporting event in the world kicks off, Gaga was seen arriving in the French capital. This has fueled the speculation that she will be one of the artists that will perform during the Opening ceremony.
Gaga famously sang Edith Piaf’s La Vie en Rose in “A Star in Born,” and performed the song during her Las Vegas residency Jazz and Piano. Also, according to Variety, R&B star Aya Nakamura and Celine Dion are also rumored to be performing.
The show has been designed by theater director Thomas Jolly, who is best known for the musical “Starmania.” Jolly didn’t confirm any names for the show, but he told Associated Press that “it will be very meaningful for the artists that will perform.”
As always, it’s expected that the show showcases France’s cultural history. And, after the opening ceremony of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics had to adhere to the social distancing due to the pandemic, and even having pre-recorded segments, there are high expectations for this year’s show.
