Alamo Drafthouse is bringing one of the most explosive hours in television history to the big screen on September 7, commemorating the official “Breaking Bad Day” with an interactive screening of the iconic Season 4 finale, “Face Off.”

Marking both Walter White’s birthday and the date the pilot episode took place, the special event transforms Vince Gilligan’s Emmy-winning thriller into a full-fledged communal fan experience across select Alamo Drafthouse locations nationwide.

The Ultimate ‘Breaking Bad’ Goodie Bag

Every attendee will walk away with a haul of iconic series props and collectibles designed to bring the screening to life:

  • A Call Bell: Fans will be directed to ding along with Hector Salamanca every time the cartel patriarch rings his bell on screen.
  • A Gus Fring Half-Face Mask: A grimly fitting tribute to the episode’s infamous, mind-blowing nursing home climax.
  • A Classic Heisenberg Hat: Complete Walter White’s dark transformation with his trademark black pork pie hat.
  • Blue Rock Candy: A sweet, edible nod to Walt and Jesse’s high-purity signature product.

Live Hosts, Costume Contests, and Event Details

Admission to the special event is free with the purchase of a $10 USD food and drink voucher (which is redeemable and refundable at the theater) when reserving spots at Drafthouse.com.

Each theater will feature a live host clad in a yellow hazmat cleansuit who will emcee the evening, guide the bell-ringing moments, and host a fan costume contest. Moviegoers are encouraged to show up in their finest Saul Goodman suits, Los Pollos Hermanos uniforms, or Marie Schrader purple ensembles.

Screenings will take place across major Alamo Drafthouse markets, including:

  • East Coast & South: New York, Boston, DC Metro Area, Northern Virginia, Raleigh, Austin, Dallas, Laredo
  • Midwest & West: Chicago, Denver, Omaha, St. Louis, Springfield, Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area

Why ‘Face Off’ Belongs on the Big Screen

Originally airing in 2011, “Face Off” stands as a monumental high point on the show. Written and directed by Vince Gilligan, the episode captures the harrowing, lethal chess match between Bryan Cranston’s Walter White and Giancarlo Esposito’s formidable kingpin Gus Fring.

Facing certain doom after sending Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) to eliminate Gale Boetticher, Walt forms an unlikely, volatile alliance with the immobile Hector Salamanca.

Watching the story unfold on a giant screen with theatrical audio offers fans a chance to experience the episode as Gilligan originally envisioned—cinematic, nerve-wracking, and larger than life. The event will also host a costume contest, so attendees are encouraged to wear their finest Saul Goodman suits, Los Pollos Hermanos uniforms, or Marie Schrader purple ensembles.
