Matt Smith, who plays Daemon Targaryen, has teased the release date of Season 2 of “House of the Dragon.” According to ScreenRant, the actor said in a podcast with the BBC that the series could return to script in August of this year.

While speaking on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, he was asked when the second season was coming out and he replied “August, I think, I think summer. This summer, yeah. I’ve not seen any of it yet but we finished last year.”

Of course, the official release date will be revealed by HBO soon, especially if that is indeed the release window for the series. It tracks with the release of the first season (August 21, 2022). In the meantime, catch up with all the details of the second season of House of the Dragon.

Season 2 of House of the Dragon: Cast, plot and all the details

The series was one of the few productions that didn’t shut down during Hollywood’s WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. As the scripts were finished before the strikes and the majority of the cast consisted of UK actors working under local contract, they were able to go into production as scheduled.

Apart from the regular cast, which includes Smitt, Emma D’Arcy, Olivia Cooke, and Rhys Ifans, there are new members confirmed for Season 2. Gayle Rankin, Simon Russell Beale, Freddie Fox, and Abubakar Salim joined the series as Alys Rivers, Ser Simon Strong, Ser Gwayne Hightower and Alyn of Hull, respectively.

House of the Dragon, which serves as a prequel for Games of Thrones, is based on the book by George R. R. Martin. As we watched in the season’s finale, Rhaenyra Targaryen (D’Arcy) and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) are on the brink of war.

“There is no war more hateful to the gods, than a war between kin. And no war so bloody as a war between dragons, Rhaenys (Eve Best) says in the first and only, so far, teaser trailer for Season 2.
