Khaby Lame, an Italian content creator and comedian born in Senegal, is not only one of the most well-known influencers on TikTok but soon we will see him make his big cinematic debut in 00Khaby, a film that will blend laughter and action.
He gained recognition for his videos, which often parody everyday situations and do-it-yourself tips or “life hacks”. His distinctive style includes humorous reactions as he addresses daily life situations in a sarcastic and amusing manner.
Handling the production of this spy comedy is Marco Belardi, previously known for directing Perfect Strangers. The script will be developed by Nicola Guaglianone and Roberto Marchionni (They Call Me Jeeg).
What is 00Khaby about?
According to Variety, the comedy revolves around a spy story set in Italy, the United States, Monte Carlo, Dubai and the French Riviera. After crossing paths with a scientific dissident, he is recruited by the CIA as bait to deceive enemy intelligence services.
The official synopsis of the movie describes: “While evading arms dealers and stealing DNA samples, the clumsy secret agent must also deal with his jealous Chinese-Italian girlfriend and his annoying little brother. But in the end, thanks to a mix of cunning, luck, and his unbreakable optimism, he will thwart nothing less than World War III”.
What is the role of the influencer in 00Khaby?
The TikTok superstar, who has around 162 million followers, will bring to life a food delivery driver recruited by the CIA. The name of his character and even when we can see the action comedy on the big screen has not been revealed yet.
Variety confirmed that Lame will travel alongside Belardi to Los Angeles to seek to set up an international production, and they will be promoting the script for “00Khaby”, which currently still has a provisional title.
Marco, the producer of the upcoming film, also revealed that they are in advanced discussions to secure at least a prominent director. Khaby also provided several statements regarding his new role as an actor and stated that he doesn’t want stunt doubles.
“That’s why I’m ready to delve into my acting and English studies to give my best in this film”, he began, later revealing that he is physically training because “as I asked Marco Belardi, I don’t want to be replaced by a double in the action scenes”.
