The <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/topic/sag-awards">SAG Awards</a> 2024 are just around the corner, and it’s time for the actors themselves to give the recognition their peers deserve with the 30th edition of the annual ceremony and to wear great looks on the red carpet.



The event will not have a single host; instead, The Economic Times confirmed that the airtime is exclusively reserved for <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/celebrities/sag-awards-2024-who-will-present-the-awards-full-list-of-celebrities-20240221-SPEN-7247.html">presenters</a>, like Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, and the future winners of the iconic Actor statuette. 



The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, February 24, starting at 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT and can be exclusively streamed. For the first time in history, <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/netflix">Netflix</a> will be responsible for broadcasting the cinema and <a href="https://spoiler.bolavip.com/en/tv">TV</a> event.

Although the SAG Awards will be streamed on Netflix, the same does not apply to the red carpet, as it will be covered by other media outlets such as PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly. This year, those chosen as hosts for the coverage are Janine Rubenstein, Patrick Gomez and Gerrad Hall. They are responsible for interviewing presenters and nominated actors as they make their way to the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles.

The nominations for the 2024 SAG Awards, which will take place on Feb. 24, are in… And there are big snubs and surprises. Especially the total absence of May December actors, particularly Charles Melton, Succession’s Jeremy Strong and Past Lives’ star Greta Lee.



As many SAG-AFTRA members are also voters of the Academy, winners often solidify their chances for the Oscars. That’s why these nominations could also change the rest of the awards season. With that in mind, Charles Melton (May December) delivered one of the most acclaimed performances of the year, but didn’t get a nod.

The actor was nominated for a Golden Globe and is competing for a Critics Choice (which take place on Sunday, Jan. 14). The surprise was the inclusion of Sterling K. Brown, for American Fiction, who wasn’t a frontrunner. The rest of the nominees are favorites Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer), Ryan Gosling (Barbie), Robert De Niro (Killers of the Flower Moon), and Willem Dafoe (Poor Things).



<h2>Greta Lee and Leonardo DiCaprio, snubbed</h2>



Other surprising absences in the line-up were Greta Lee, who starred in Celine Song’s Past Lives. The actress was nominated for a Golden Globe and Critics Choice too. Sandra Hüller, who starred in the French court drama Anatomy of a Fall, also wasn’t considered despite also competing for Golden Globe and Critics Choice.



Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon), Carey Mulligan (Maestro), and Emma Stone (Poor Things) were the expected nominees, and they got nods. However, Margot Robbie (Barbie) and Annette Bening (NYAD) completed the line-up.

When it comes to Male Actor in a leading role, the line up was also expected: Bradley Cooper (Maestro), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Paul Giamatti (The Holdovers), Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) and Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction). However, there were hopes for other names such as Leonardo DiCaprio (Killers of the Flower Moon) and Zac Efron (The Iron Claw).



<h2>TV: Jeremy Strong’s snub was a big surprise</h2>



In TV, the biggest surprise was Jeremy Strong’s absence in the category of Male Actor for a Drama series. Instead, his Successions co-stars Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, who recently won the Golden Globe, and Matthew Macfadyen (who also won the Golden Globe but for Best Supporting Actor) were nominated. The rest of the line up is completed by Billy Crudup (The Morning Show) and Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us).

The announcement will be able to stream via the SAG Awards’ and Netflix’s Instagram Live. Apart from the nominations, SAG-AFTRA president Fran Drescher will make an appearance. She will likely speak about the strike that paralyzed the industry, along with the Writers Guild strike, for seven months.

<h2>Netflix will stream the ceremony for the first time</h2>



After acquiring the rights to the actor’s guild awards show last year, the ceremony will stream live on Netflix for the first time on February 24. Last year, the ceremony was streamed via YouTube because the platform was still struggling to stream live events.



In 2023, the biggest wins came for the cast of “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” which won four trophies including Cast category. On the other hand, in TV, the biggest winners were Abbott Elementary and The White Lotus (who also took the Cast category).

According to Variety’s predictions, this year’s favorite films to take the marquee category include Barbie, Oppenheimer, Killers of The Flower Moon, Air and Rustin. Meanwhile, in drama series, some of the favorites include Succession (likely winner), The Last of Us, and The Crown.
