The Super Bowl 2024 is just around the corner, and since its inception in 1967, it has become one of the most significant events, both for the NFL and the industry, especially because it combines two factors like football and music.
Rihanna was the one who carried out the main performance in the 2023 edition, and this time it’s Usher‘s turn. The star is already preparing his setlist, and many are hoping he adds some of his great classics like OMG, U Got it Bad and My Boo.
The final between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs will take place on Sunday, February 11, starting at 6:30 PM ET, while the Halftime Show will occur an hour and a half after the start of the game.
How to watch the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2024 online
Super Bowl LVIII will be aired on CBS and can be streamed through Paramount+, which is offering a one-week free trial in the United States. According to ET and the official platform website, the service has plans starting from $5.99 per month and includes live access to the local CBS channel.
The final between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will take place at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, and the sporting event itself will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET. It is estimated that the Halftime Show will last around 13 minutes, beginning at 8 PM ET.
This year marks the first time in history that the event will be broadcast in two different formats. This is because CBS will broadcast the traditional game, while Nickelodeon will air an exclusive retransmission for children and families, according to CBS Sports.
Usher to recap his 30-year career on the Halftime Show
Since the NFL confirmed that Usher has been chosen as the headliner for this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, fans have been eager to learn more about his performance on the Allegiant Stadium stage. It is still unknown whether he will have musical guests, but it will undoubtedly be quite emotional for him.
During an interview with Vogue, the R&B singer revealed that the goal of his upcoming performance is to reach the audience and touch the emotions of his fans. “People will tune in for a football game, but I hope when they see that halftime performance, I hope they walk away with something that’s healing them…”, he said.
“Something that makes them feel hopeful, and not just looking to the past but having hope for the future, and having hope for a different kind of future than what we’re seeing right now in the present”, the star added. He then discussed the planning process and how to choose the ideal songs for the brief duration of the show.
“I’ve been doing this for 30 years. I want the people who have been part of that journey to feel like it’s a celebration for all of us, from the beginning to this moment. Tonight was specifically selected in my mind for R&B to take center stage… Not just R&B music but R&B performance, R&B connection, R&B spirit”, Usher finally confessed.
Furthermore, he also confirmed that he drew inspiration from some of the greatest artists (such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Prince) to put together the performance. “I want them to feel something and feel my passion, my love, feel that I was the right person to take this position, and I was the right person to bring this kind of energy, love, and connection to the whole world“.
